Words lose power through overuse. The man who speaks rarely and precisely commands more attention than the man who fills every silence with sound.
The Practice of Precision
Think before you speak. Let them finish. Let a moment pass. Say what you actually mean.
Cut the qualifiers. Most 'sort ofs,' 'kind ofs,' and 'you knows' are fillers that dilute conviction.
Make statements, not questions. Upward inflection at the end of statements consistently registers as low confidence.
Own your silences. Comfortable silence is a sign of presence, not awkwardness.
